Who do we serve?
Gateway Food Pantry proudly serves families in Jefferson and South St. Louis County.
Our pantry provides food assistance to all residents in the Fox School District, the Windsor School District, and the 63127, 63128, and 63026 zip codes.
All Veterans in Jefferson County are eligible to apply to be a client.
Emergency food may be offered on a one-time basis with valid ID.

You will need to provide documentation to become a client.

You will need four items to become a client
Proof of identification (Ex: Driver’s license)
Social Security Cards for all members living in household (SSNs are not kept)
Proof of residence (Ex: A utility bill with current address, lease agreement)
Proof of household income (All gross income of household; see below)
Proof of income includes

SSI
SSDI
Unemployment Compensation
Pension and/or other retirement benefits -
Client eligibility is assessed every 6 months (180 days) or annually.
For clients who receive SSI or SSDI, eligibility is assessed on an annual basis.
For all other clients, your eligibility is assessed every 4 months (120 days). -
Clients receive food on a bi-weekly basis.
Clients with a last name beginning with the letter A-L are served one week while individuals with a last name beginning with the letter M-Z are served the following week.
Appointments are made 9AM-1PM on the Tuesday and Wednesday preceding the Thursday pickup. -
Our pantry provides items from all five food groups - Fruits, Vegetables, Grains, Protein, and Dairy. We also do our best to honor all dietary limitations.
Additionally, clients will be able to make certain requests to our distribution team so they receive the food they want. For example, we may offer individuals the choice between fish, turkey, or ham in addition to their regular meat distribution.

Yes, you can receive additional food from the pantry for your relatives living with you. To do so, you will need to provide additional documentation for each member of the household.

A relative or other trusted individual can pick up your distribution and bring it to you. Please let the pantry know in advance of your plans when you make your appointment or prior to distribution.

Our pantry never wants to turn away anyone in need. However, due to our agreements and collaborations with other local area food pantries and partners, we are unable to serve individuals who reside outside of our service area on a regular basis. If you are unsure about the pantry that serves your address, we will do our best to assist you in finding the relevant information.
